As winter sets in, the thought of the upcoming days full of sleet, snow and ice might bum you out.

Maybe you wish you lived someplace warm and sunny where it feels like summer year-round.

Let's take it one step further and add a beautiful mountainous landscape to the mix.

Sound like a place you'd like to live?

You're not the only one.

200 people move to Phoenix, Arizona everyday, and for more reasons than warm weather and stunning scenery.

If you're considering relocating, there are numerous reasons why you should choose Phoenix.

Reasons to Move to Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona is the state capital. It's one of the top five largest cities in the US. Here are just a few of the many reasons why more than 1.6 million people call this city home.

1. Warm and Sunny

When you ask people why you should move to Phoenix, one of the first things you’ll hear about is the amazing weather in Arizona. With beautiful sunny weather and winter says in the 70's, what more could you ask for?

Phoenix has a stunning 300 sunny days per year, making it one of the sunniest places in the country. The temperatures stay warm for more than a third of the year, and the low humidity keeps you comfortable. Make sure you stock up on sunscreen because you’ll be soaking up some rays in beautiful Phoenix!

2. Diverse Food Culture

Food is one of those universal joys that unites us all. Is there anything better than finding a new favorite dish, cuisine, hole-in-the-wall treasure, or hidden date night spot? If you want to experience one of the best food cultures in the country, you need to move to Phoenix.

You won’t be surprised to learn that Phoenix has one of the best Mexican food cultures in the United States.

3. The Great Outdoors

If you like hiking, biking, or being outdoors, there are few better places in the country for you than Phoenix. The landscape around the city is a rugged, mountainous desert painted with breathtaking sunsets and wild scrub trees. These landscapes have inspired some of our country’s most prolific artists, and you’ll find it easy to see why.

Phoenix has wonderful opportunities for fishing, tubing, horseback riding, rock climbing, and more. The city is home to nearly 200 parks and 200 miles of trails for hiking and biking. You can visit the largest municipal park in the country, enjoy 33,000 acres of desert preserves, and float down the Salt River at the end of the day to cool off.

4. Sports FTW

If you’re a sports fan, you’ll find your next big win in Phoenix. For those who enjoy watching sports, the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB all have teams based out of Phoenix. You can even beat the heat and cheer on your team in the Diamondbacks Stadium, Chase Field, which has a retractable roof to keep fans cool.

If you like getting out on the green, you’ll love exploring the more than 200 golf courses spread out around Phoenix. The largest professional golf tournament on the PGA tour, the Phoenix Open, also happens in the city. And if you’re a NASCAR fan, Phoenix has a healthy racing scene that you’ll love diving into.

5. Access to the Southwest

While Phoenix has plenty of attractions and entertainment around the city to keep you busy, there’s also plenty in the surrounding area for you to enjoy. Phoenix is in a prime location to get to many of the Southwest’s best cities, starting with Scottsdale, Glendale, and Tempe. Each of these cities is less than half an hour away and makes for an amazing evening or weekend out of the house.

If you’re up for a weekend adventure, why not head over to Vegas, only about four and a half hours away? You’re also within driving distance of California or Mexico, as well as Northern Arizona. You can also get out on the water with a trip to Lake Mead, just four hours’ drive from Phoenix.

6. Interesting Wildlife

If you want to see some of the most amazing wildlife our country has to offer, Phoenix offers unparalleled opportunities for this. You may discover some animals you didn’t even know existed while living in Phoenix. While the area is home to a number of snakes, you won’t have to worry about those in the city; you can go see them in the surrounding desert they call home.

Roadrunners call the landscape around Phoenix home, as do actual coyotes and desert tortoises. On your hikes, you may see chuckwallas, wild pigs, and Gila monsters. The area is also home to scorpions, so keep an eye on your shoes if you plan to go camping!

7. Get Your Groove On

For those who prefer to play in a concrete jungle, Phoenix has a thriving nightlife. The city is home to nightclubs, comedy clubs, bars, lounges, and hole-in-the-wall dive bars. You can get a craft cocktail or a cheap beer and find the perfect place to get down with your friends.

If the nightlife scene in Phoenix isn’t cutting it for you, hop in the car after an early Friday and head down to Vegas for a truly epic weekend.

Phoenix, Arizona, has some of the best culture, entertainment and natural beauty in the country. You can spend your weekends hiking surrounding mountains, cheering on your favorite spots team, finding your new favorite dinner spot or visiting popular surrounding cities.

Pack your bags and head to Phoenix to discover what your new life in the sun could be.
